Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5

We got together for breakfast and then went to meet with Ontario's Ministry of Tourism. Sault Ste Marie MP Tony Martin was with us again. We had a very good exchange of information with the Ministry of Tourism. We told them about our great train trip on the Algoma Central and Ontario Northland railways. We also told them about the formal Opportunities Study that we are initiating, which we felt would lead to the need for a Feasibility Study and then to an Operational Plan for economic growth and diversification based on quality passenger rail service. They acknowledged the transportation problems in the north which act as a barrier to tourism growth. We were very encouraged by their positive comments about the direction we are taking and our commitment to bringing all stakeholders and interests together to find innovative solutions to the long term viability of our wilderness trains.

After our meeting with the Ministry of Tourism we went to Union Station for our press conference. We had a number of reporters at Union Station. In addition to the CAPT representatives, we had Paula Fletcher and Pam McConnell (Toronto Councillors), Alex Carruthers (Urban Planning Student),  Tony Martin MP and Doug Reynolds (Nature and Outdoor Tourism Ontario) address the media. The whole event went very well. We will put the news stories on the internet in the next few days.

After the Press Conference we packed all of our stuff up and most of our group got ready to head back home. Linda, Al Errington, and Al Errington Sr. headed to Ottawa. We got to Ottawa late in the evening and went out for a dinner meeting with Sault Ste Marie MP Tony Martin, and Algoma - Manitoulin MP Brent St Denis, and Doug Reynolds. We discussed our meeting with Transport Canada the next day and turned in for the night.
